Motion Graphics

It may be the simplest form of animation, but it can pack a punch

What are Motion Graphics?

Motion Graphics is a generic and broad term for the application of movement to what would otherwise be static graphics such as photos, typography and graphical elements.

Think of a poster design with these elements laid out with beautiful graphics and a well-balanced design style. Now imagine that instead of all these elements being static and fixed in their position, they can now in fact move around, that is Motion Graphics.

Motion Graphics can be complicated and aesthetically very detailed, however if the emphasis or design is based upon another form of animation such as character animation or 3D animation then these animations would be categorised accordingly.

Motion Graphics is essentially Graphic Design that moves instead of being static, such as title sequences for video or an animated advert that consists of typography and lettering.
